Great Grandma

I am really new to this blog thing! And those who know me, know I don't like spending time on the computer! There is just too much to see and too much to do! But I would like to pay tribute to my Grandma that shaped my life so much. When I was five, my Dad was killed in a mine accident in Moab. Things were really hard for my family. We had been living with my grandma. And now that I am a Mom I can't imagine the pain my Grandma Johnson felt losing a child. This was not the first child she had lost, but putting her pain aside, she took me under her wing. Almost like she was trying to just have a piece of my Dad still with her. We spent a lot of time together fishing and sewing quilts and jumping rope. My Grandma would pick me up for church every Sunday. I have to laugh because she would often make us matching dresses. Yes...I said it...matching dresses. But on Sunday, as my family sat together singing the opening hymn "I stand all amazed", I could almost hear her singing it to me like she had so many times before. Tears filled my eyes as I realized that it was her faith that had shaped the person that I am today. She taught me to how to piece a quilt. She also taught me to crochet a pot holder. And better yet, she taught me of the love of the Savior. I have made some mistakes she probably was not to happy with, but I hope I can make her proud of the person she molded. She has been gone for a while now and I miss her dearly, but I know she is with my Dad now. I can imagine the big smile on her face as she was reunited with him. My Grandpa just passed away last year and I can't help but imagine how happy they are to be with each other again.
